"Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountain apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper."I Kings 19:11-12
Listen to God. These moments in God's presence are the ones that really matter. This is the place from which authentic Christianity emanates. It's the unhurried, silent communing of God's Spirit with our spirit. You can't become an authentic Christian on a diet of constant activity, even if the activity is all church related. Ministry, Christian concerts, weekend conferences, church committees meetings-these all may be valuable, but they are not your main source of strength. Strength comes out of solitude. Decisions that change the entire course of your life usually come out of the holy of holies.
